Principal Welcoming Letter

August 2021

Dear Parents or Guardians:

Welcome to Samuel Slater Middle School!  We are looking forward to teaching your son/daughter this upcoming year while maintaining a safe and healthy school environment.

To make this difficult time easier, we will keep you informed with up-to-date information as best as we can,  we recommend that you visit the Pawtucket School Website, Samuel Slater Middle School Website, as well as Slater’s Twitter and Facebook Accounts. We will also inform you through Slater’s Quarterly Newsletter and flyers/handouts sent home via email,  paper and Robocalls. During school hours, you can call the school or stop by for assistance, but due to COVID-19 precautions you will be asked to wait at the school reception window.  We have Spanish and Creole speaking staff for your convenience.

In addition to these communication methods, we are also scheduling virtual meetings such as Title 1,  Parent Workshops, PTO, Community Advisory Board including Parent Teacher Organization Meetings, Title 1 Meetings, Parent Workshops (ex. Use of Google Classroom, Skyward, Social Emotional Learning, Restorative Practices, Community Services/Resources, and more), Bradley Hospital Informational Sessions, Comprehensive School Improvement Meetings, Community Advisory Board Meetings and much more. We welcome our families to be a part of our school community and improvement initiatives this year.

Attached you will find relevant dates and information for all the meetings listed above.  In addition important school forms are included that need to be filled out, so we can provide students with the best service possible, such as lunch and medical forms, Title 1 Survey, school compact, and more.  Keep the ones you need and send the others back with your student as soon as possible.

Thank you for your time.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate in contacting us.  Stay safe and healthy.

 Best regards,

 Michael Cordeiro, Principal
